Vespa service centre

I ventured as far as Collingwood with the camera on a long walk from the city but given the amount of people either buying or selling drugs on the street I didn't want to be flashing my camera around. I used to live nearby in Abbotsford when I first arrived in Melbourne and today I felt unsafe and uncomfortable there for the first time.

Curiously one fact didn't occur to me until I had boarded the train to get the hell out of the neighbourhood. I had never seen so many haggard looking white trash types in one place before and then when I boarded the train I realized they all had Meth Face. I had heard Meth was cutting a swathe through the lower income white folks in the vast Housing Commission estates, but today I am certain of it. Scabbed faces peered at me accusingly. It really reminded me of this site which I had seen recently.

A few years ago you might see an elderly man tottering down the street carrying a flagon of wine, or you might see a heroin addict sleepwalking at the traffic lights, but these people had a coiled, ugly, angry vibe that you felt may lash out at any minute.

The winos are gone and have been replaced by something far more seedy and dangerous.

Royal Exhibition Building Fountain

I don't know what possessed me top go out with my camera in this incredible heat but I finally saw this fountain in action for the first time in years.

Haven't posted in a few days 'cause, frankly, they've been totally shit days. Few neat things happened-- for instance, today I sang opera style in class. But the bulk is shitty stuff-- for instance, today I was denied unemployment for a bullshit reason unrelated to any truly wrong-doing on my part (ie: they claim I never called them back on a certain matter, when I can prove on my phone records that I did, in fact, do so) I plan on appealing ASAP. I honestly don't expect I'll get anywhere, but I have to try.

The thing is, I am legitimately attempting to get a job. I really WANT to work. I'm sick of looking at my bank balance as a fond memory of what was, rather than what it ought to be. But I'm not getting anywhere, and mother fucking six months of that shit means I need some goddamned fucking money.

Now.

I am still laughing over some dumb queen in the States telling me he thought he'd come to Australia and be really exotic because he'd be the only Asian.

Once again I'm regretting not learning French and German. Normally it's because I want to live/travel in Europe but now it's because I really need to read some texts in their original language. Translations done by people outside the field are often wrong!

This ad kind of freaked me out as a kid, and 20 years later, it's not much better.

Does anyone think that these guys make the Brady Bunch look like heroin addicts in comparison?

I found out about Demeter fragrances from this community a while ago, and have been a little obsessed with them since.

For those of you unfamiliar, Demeter do happy/ unusual scents, like play doh, rain, warm bread, freshly cut grass, leather, cinnamon toast, laundromat, the list goes on. (Have a play here, they've got 250+ options).

The US dollar being what it is, they’re really affordable at the moment too, about $6 for a little bottle and $20 for a normal sized one. The one problem being their very international-unfriendly $40 flat shipping rate.

I remember last time there were heaps of people here who were really into them, I thought maybe we could get a group order together, even with ten people it would work out to be super cheap.

Any takers? If anyone has ideas on what would be the simplest way to organise this from a logistics point of view, that would be much appreciated as well.

livejournal needs an "I like" button or something. How do we petition them to give us one?

livejournal has had no new features for years, and all you get with a paid subscription is more user icons (whippeee!)

it would be so much easier for people to hit an "i like" button since they're all apparently too busy to comment.
